Before a camp trip
A guide for families across Ukraine: a first trip to a BORETS camp, packing, staying in touch, travel and questions to ask before confirming a session.
A residential sports camp combines training, rest and shared daily life away from home. Discuss whether your child is ready to stay without parents, look after belongings and ask for help. Tell the coordinator about age, sporting experience and previous trips away. BORETS has formats for beginners and experienced children; the team recommends a particular session after a conversation.
First, confirm the dates and exact arrival location. Agree who will bring and collect your child, the arrival time and the responsible adult’s contact details. Do not assume a transfer is included unless the team confirms it. Families or group coaches should know the handover arrangements, communication rules, air-raid procedures and current organisational contacts.
Prepare several sets of sports clothes, everyday clothing, underwear, sleepwear, toiletries, a towel, a water bottle and footwear for different activities. Label belongings and pack with your child. Confirm the need for a gi, protective equipment, documents and the final packing list for the chosen session. Discuss any individual food or support requirements with the team before confirming attendance.
At the BORETS base, training is combined with team activities and recovery time. The team explains phone rules and family contact times before each session. Encourage your child to speak to a responsible adult as soon as a difficulty arises. The 2026 season details on the camp page describe previous experience; they do not automatically determine the next session’s schedule.
Apply through the sports camp page and tell us your child’s age and experience, and whether they will come individually, with siblings or as part of a team. A coordinator will explain the available formats. Expressions of interest are open for the 2027 season; dates, programme details and whether each session can proceed are confirmed separately.
