01Start with a conversation
Before your first visit, tell the coordinator your child’s age, previous experience and preferred area of Kropyvnytskyi. A beginner needs an appropriate group rather than just joining any session. The team will confirm the venue, time and coach, and explain the first visit. Use the website application form or call +380 99 203 42 62.
02A group suited to age and experience
BORETS has programmes for ages 4–7, 8–11 and 12–15. Younger groups begin with movement tasks, coordination and rules for working with a partner. Older children gradually take on more technical tasks and physical training. Tell the coach about experience in another sport: it helps them plan training, but does not mean the child must compete immediately.
03What to bring to the first session
Bring clean sports clothes without zips, metal parts or jewellery, a water bottle and indoor footwear for areas off the mat. Tie back long hair and keep nails short. Ask the coach about the group’s requirements before buying a gi or other specialist equipment. Make sure your child knows where their belongings are and how to ask an adult for help.
04Helping your child settle in
Explain that the first session is not about beating everyone or memorising techniques straight away. It is a chance to meet the coach, try exercises and learn the rules. Afterwards, ask what was interesting, what was unclear and whether your child would like to return. Discuss any worries with the coach without comparing your child with others. Settling in and moving to harder exercises takes time.
05Choose a gym you can attend regularly
BORETS groups train at the Central Gym on Viktora Chmilenka Street, Portal, Depot and Mykolaivka. Ages and experience levels differ between groups, so check the specific session in the schedule. A practical journey after school and regular attendance matter more than choosing a club in a hurry.
